The Shepherd, The Sheep. The Field and The Hireling

For last Sabbath’s AY Program we had a group dynamic entitled “The Shepherd, The Sheep. The Field and The Hireling”.

It has been a long practice within the church that our AY programs are purely without games using the Bibles or any activities that would generate unnecessary competitiveness, loud laughing and other informality. So we always have group dynamics to let the youth think for themselves as well.

The “The Shepherd, The Sheep. The Field and The Hireling” started by forming 4 groups. The youth were especially formed into one group. They were asked to pick a piece of paper to determine if they are The Shepherd, The Sheep. The Field and The Hireling.

After choosing one, they need to discuss within themselves the characteristics of the chosen item and to what application could he/she make in the church.

After 10 minutes they then choose one representative to report to the congregation what their answers are. The rest of the group members will then sing a song fitted to their chosen item.

Let the AY leader or an elder do the wrap up for this activity.

Blessed to be a blessing,

Chummie

teaching unity, conquering fears, reflection

Last December 2014, as the year comes to an end. We had one more chance to have an activity with the youth in the church.

We spent 2 days reflecting on our weaknesses and strengths and on how we can do more for the work of Christ. We also did activities to show unity and to conquer fears in ourselves.

It was a nice and perfect way to end the year. I pray that for the coming years we would be more passionate in serving God and finishing the work here on earth.

Highlights are in the photos below.

Youth on a Mission

DSC_0121

In our church we have a radio program that has been running for 11 years now…

And for it’s anniversary we held a medical/natural mission on the church neighborhood.

All members of the church from the young ones to the youth and to the adults shared in their talents for the said event.

The little lambs were in charge of the registration.

The medical professionals were in charge in taking the blood pressure, temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate. As well as in taking the magnetic resonance analyzer result of every patient. There was also an area where they can watch videos on health lectures. Some members were giving out health and Sabbath tracts to the guests.

It was one blessed day and we can’t wait for more opportunities to be able to spread the word of God to everyone.

EGW Bookworms

As a way to encourage the youth in our church to read more of the writings of Sis. Ellen G. White, we held a pop quiz every Sabbath afternoon. Because of this we have already finished the book Patriarchs and Prophets and now in the middle of Prophets and Kings.

Not only the youth participated in the quizzes but the adults as well.

For the quizzes we made a Powerpoint presentation for it and most questions are multiple choice, true or false and fill in the blanks. We have a quiz for every 5 chapters of the book. You may opt to have more chapters to read depending on the participants.

Before we started the EGW books we started by having quizzes on Bible Trivia and moved on to the book of Daniel and Revelation.

I believe that this is one way to encourage reading in the church and be more productive of our time as youth of the last generation.
